[mouse over to see the other Cosmo cover]
Over the past few years Angelina Jolie has graced the cover of many editions of Cosmopolitan. Someone (most likely an Angelina Jolie fan who collects magazines with her on the cover?) has discovered they’ve been recycling the same images of Jolie over and over and just changing her dress color. As you can see in the examples above, everything is the same – the pose, the folds on the dress, etc. - the only difference is the color of the dress. The white dress issue is from August 2003, and the blue dress issue is from July 2005. Gawker has the complete rundown of the covers.
I am sure this practice is done quite often, and by many other magazines besides Cosmo. I can see where a magazine can save production time and money by doing this, but at least humor your readers (and the star’s fans) by choosing a slightly different pose. I should also make mention that these are all from various International editions of the magazine, so perhaps Cosmo figured no one would catch on to the liberal re-use of the same images.
